Almost three-quarters of the 8 billion e-mails sent every day will never see the intended recipients' inbox, a report finds -- but there's no need for marketers to despair. Return Path notes that 81% of the messages by "legitimate" companies reach customers' inbox. E-mail marketers should be grateful for the spam filters, otherwise "roughly three of four messages would be egregious spam that would need to be scrolled through and then either ignored or deleted," making it much tougher to find the legitimate messages, argues Jeanne Jennings.
