The State Department is considering whether to modify the route of TransCanada's proposed Keystone XL pipeline so that it wouldn't cross Nebraska's Sandhills region, according to a department official. This follows concerns from Nebraska residents that the pipeline's current route could threaten drinking-water supplies. Rerouting delays could affect the prospects of the project, said Russ Girling, president and CEO of TransCanada.
