A clinical retrospective study confirmed trial reports of daptomycin's efficacy in diabetic skin and soft tissue infections. Daptomycin cured or improved skin infections in 86% of 277 patients with diabetic ulcers or foot infections, according to a presentation at the Interscience Conference on Antimicrobial Agents and Chemotherapy. Treatment for 60% of the patients included daptomycin in combination with a fluoroquinolone, carbapenem or other antibiotic; 61% had tissue debridement and 15% had bone debridement.
