As the Northeast recovers from this past weekend's snowstorm, the U.N. Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change is preparing for the Nov. 18 release of a report on global-warming adaptation. The report is expected to find that extreme weather events, which have led to hefty costs for insurers, businesses, governments and communities, likely could be a result of emissions of man-made greenhouse gases. The report also is expected to predict increased costs from extreme weather events associated with climate change and greater risk for those living in certain regions around the world.
