Lawsuits such as the one challenging the U.S. government's first offshore oil and natural gas lease sale since last year's Gulf of Mexico oil spill have been frequent in recent years, industry officials said. "It's become kind of routine to see litigation," said Erik Milito, upstream director at the American Petroleum Institute. "It's unfortunate, but we're in an age where it's just not surprising to see these types of cases filed," he said.
