CME Group, parent company of the Chicago Mercantile Exchange and Chicago Board of Trade, is working with Illinois lawmakers to reduce its state taxes and is considering lower-tax locations in Indiana, Florida and Texas. But traders and technologists worry about the costs of the CME Group leaving Chicago. "There are network effects in the trading community," says Jeff Carter, a former CME board member.
