Republican presidential candidate Newt Gingrich's support for homegrown biofuels, which goes back to 1984, has won him friends in the ethanol industry. "He has certainly understood the potential for biofuels," said Bob Dinneen, president and CEO of the Renewable Fuels Association. "So many of the candidates are afraid to mention ethanol in their policy speeches. Newt's not one of those people," said Walt Wendland, president of the Iowa Renewable Fuels Association.
