A series of initiatives has helped one small school district in Alabama modernize its use of technology in education. Matt Akin, superintendent of the Piedmont City School District, in an interview shared the approach used to create and implement a 1:1 computing program, a distance-learning partnership with Stanford University and a plan to improve Internet access for all district students.
