People with high blood pressure live one day longer on average for every month they take their hypertension medication, researchers reported in the Journal of the American Medical Association. Lead author Dr. John Kostis, of the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey, said patients who are reluctant to take medication because they do not have any symptoms may be more receptive if they are told the drugs can help them live longer.
