Women who did not eat carbs for two days and had normal food intake for the rest of the week lost an average of nine pounds, compared with only five pounds in those who cut back to 1,500 calories daily, researchers reported at the CTRC-AACR San Antonio Breast Cancer Symposium. Researchers said those in the intermittent-dieting group also had better levels of the hormones insulin and appetite-regulating leptin.
