Pocket dialing has become a problem for emergency dispatchers, who end up spending valuable time determining the nature of the calls. In Indiana, Whitley County gets up to 15 calls a night from cellphones that accidentally dial 9-1-1. "We're finding it happening more and more with kids taking their phones to school," said Timothy Lee, executive director of the call center for Fort Wayne and Allen County. "We've got situations where we have to call and validate with schools" about potential 9-1-1 hang-ups, he added.
