A study that evaluated information from 17 hospitals across Canada found the ratio of percutaneous coronary interventions to coronary artery bypass grafting varied based on a number of factors. Coronary anatomy was the most important predictor of PCI selection, followed by clinical indication and the center at which the patient was treated. In an accompanying opinion piece, Mayo Clinic researchers discussed the importance of involving patients in decisions about procedures.
