Wind-energy supporters are urging lawmakers to extend the renewable-energy Production Tax Credit through 2016. Extension of the PTC "is needed to maintain the momentum of a diversified energy plan for our national security, a cleaner environment for our children, and much needed high-paying U.S. manufacturing jobs," said Jaime McAlpine, president of Chermac Energy. Elimination of the PTC would be a big blow against wind power development in Oklahoma, which only has a voluntary renewable-power standard, McAlpine added.
