A report in the journal Pediatrics traced the development of premature babies weighing less than 1 pound, 5 ounces into adulthood, particularly Madeline Mann and Rumaisa Rahman. Mann was born at 26 weeks weighing 9.9 ounces and currently is a 22-year-old honor student at Augustana College, while Rahman is 7 and in elementary school, researchers said. They added that gestational age, more than birth weight, played an important role in the girls' survival.
