Royal Dutch Shell won drilling rights to 18 tracts in Alaska's Harrison Bay, while ConocoPhillips and Spain's Repsol purchased key holdings in the state's North Slope. Shell continues to focus on its exploration projects in the Beaufort and Chukchi seas, but is looking to expand its offshore activities, said Curtis Smith, a spokesman for Shell Alaska. "We're hopeful that there are synergies between the leases we purchased today and the leases we hold on the federal offshore," Smith said.
