Students in K-12 schools should be given an opportunity to learn the basics of computer science, some experts say. A 2010 report found little instruction and few standards on the subject in most elementary- and secondary-school classrooms. The issue is exacerbated by a lack of certification programs for teachers, some say. "Either there are no requirements and anyone can teach computer science, or they're technology requirements that have no CS content," said Chris Stephenson, executive director of the Computer Science Teachers Association.
