A growing number of people are thinking smaller when it comes to the American Dream, focusing on personal fulfillment instead of traditional markers such as home ownership, and seeking a financial safety net instead of financial success, according to MetLife's fifth annual survey about the American Dream. Most of the shift in thinking is among younger Americans, but even baby boomers' financial dreams are being reshaped by current reality, with 57% saying they live paycheck to paycheck.
