The American Petroleum Institute's "Vote 4 Energy" campaign unveiled Wednesday won't choose sides or support candidates as Americans prepare for the 2012 elections, said Jack Gerard, API's president and CEO. The effort will instead push for an end to the "onslaught of regulations" that Gerard said is making it more difficult for the country to achieve energy independence. Friendlier regulations would generate revenue, create thousands of jobs and strengthen energy security, Gerard said.
