Two high schools in Escondido, Calif., created sensory rooms for their students in special education. The rooms include equipment, such as weighted blankets and rocking chairs, designed to provide multisensory experiences to students. "Being able to touch things, have different sounds, different feelings, allows them to get back to the place where they're calm and they can learn," said Susan Davis, the district's special-education director.
