In an effort to match canine cancer patients with cutting-edge, experimental treatment options, veterinarian Theresa Fossum of Texas A&M founded the Texas Veterinary Cancer Registry, which matches dogs with cancer to experimental therapies. "Because [dogs] suffer from cancers that are nearly identical to those in humans, but quicker to run their course, they can speed up and make more reliable the process of determining whether a therapy will work," said Dr. Fossum.
