New York state's University at Buffalo, through its Multidisciplinary Center for Earthquake Engineering Research, and Shelter2Home, maker of transitional homes based on its light-gauge steel framing system, have joined with Haiti's Université Quisqueya to help Haitians rebuild their country by teaching them how to build new houses and other structures that incorporate seismic design. "All these courses allowed us to improve the conception in earthquake-resistant construction and to raise awareness regarding earthquakes," Tingue Wolfield, a civil engineer.
