President Barack Obama's promotion of expanded offshore drilling in his State of the Union address contradicts the White House's record on domestic energy development, said Rep. Doc Hastings, R-Wash. "An accurate description of President Obama's energy policies would include: reinstating an offshore drilling ban off the Atlantic and Pacific coasts," said Hastings, chairman of the House Natural Resources Committee, in a statement. He also criticized the administration's rejection of a permit for TransCanada's Keystone XL pipeline.
