Composer Tod Machover and his team at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology developed Hyperscore, a computer program that helps people with disabilities improve and express themselves by translating artwork into a musical score. Dan Ellsey, who was born with cerebral palsy, is unable to speak and has little control of his body movements, not only learned the program but also now makes CDs, performs and teaches other patients.
