IHS iSuppli reports inventories at semiconductor companies shrank to 81 days in the third quarter of 2011, down from 83 days in the prior quarter, as chip vendors reduced output to alleviate oversupply conditions. This marked the first time in seven quarters that the days-of-inventory figure fell from quarter to quarter, the market research firm noted.
