A study comparing four diets found that people who ate the plant-based "DASH" diet and two plans that included lean beef reduced their LDL and total cholesterol, Pennsylvania State University researchers reported. The study in the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition said the lean-beef diets did not have as much saturated fat as an average American diet, and the meats that were used were grilled, braised or fried.
