Missing one daytime nap increased toddlers' anxiety and made them less interested in their environment, a study in the Journal of Sleep Research found. After being given an unsolvable jigsaw puzzle, toddlers who were deprived of their nap were 31% more stressed by the puzzle than when they had their usual nap, researchers said. Long-term sleep deprivation could lead to "lifelong, mood-related problems," they said.
