The latest results of the National Corn Growers Association's annual yield contest paint a rosy picture of U.S. corn production and suggest that farmers will produce enough corn to meet rising demand, writes columnist Susanne Retka Schill. The average corn yield of all 18 winners was 313 bushels per acre, which is almost twice the recent domestic-average high of about 165 bushels per acre, she notes.
