The presidential election likely means that activity on federal legislation and regulation will be light, according to plastics- and chemical-industry officials. The American Chemistry Council's Plastics Division is focused on ensuring that reform of the Toxic Substances Control Act doesn't inhibit the plastics industry. "We want to make sure lawmakers understand how easy it would be to hurt the plastics industry," said Steve Russell, ACC's vice president for plastics.
