More programs are needed to ensure schooling, job placement and other forms of support for young people with disabilities who end up in the juvenile-justice system, a new report by Project Forum at the National Association of State Directors of Special Education suggests. The report details programs available in a number of states, including Arizona, where youth with special needs are assigned a transition coordinator to help establish support and connections through parole officers, special-education officials and school districts.
