Elevated concentrations of Tumor Necrosis Factor Receptor 1 and 2 can help predict the likelihood of renal function loss in patients with type 1 or type 2 diabetes up to 10 years in advance, researchers reported in the Journal of the American Society of Nephrology. The mechanism behind the association of TNFRs and renal function decline may serve as a target in the development of new drug treatments, one researcher said.
