Ten preschool special-education classrooms in Wake County, N.C., have new specialized Young Explorer computer stations, thanks to a $25,999 grant from the IBM KidSmart program. The brightly-colored computer stations feature a bench that is wide enough for several students, who can play educational games and activities that teach language, math and science, and complement classroom instruction. The new computers are part of an initiative to use technology to help students in special education achieve the goals outlined in their Individualized Education Plans.
