Students in Virginia's Fairfax County will be issued pedometers next year and will be asked to track the number of steps they take. The initiative is part of a three-year study of students' nutrition and physical activity, funded with a $2.1 million federal grant. Younger students will track their steps for 20 days, and older students will use the pedometers for 35 days. Students also will log their nutrition and activity during that time.
