Data on 466 women with a mean age of 25 showed that almost one-third did not recognize weight gains of 4.5 pounds within a six-month period, while one-quarter did not notice weight gains of 8.8 pounds. Black women and those who used the birth control injection depot medroxyprogesterone acetate were the most likely to recognize weight gain, researchers reported in the Journal of Women's Health.
