The major ad networks are starting to support HTML5-based video ads, but there are still plenty of challenges for mobile developers and marketers to cope with, writes Pablo Schklowsky. Some key video-ad concepts, such as ads that display a webpage when clicked, don't work on all mobile HTML5 videos, so strategies will need to be tailored to specific platforms. "[W]e're still a long way from having a turn-key video advertising solution for all HTML5 viewers, but we're closer to achieving that goal than ever before," Schklowsky writes.
