Patients with type 1 diabetes who received group teaching that included flexible intensive insulin therapy and carbohydrate counting using automated bolus calculators attained a -0.7% change in within-group HbA1C levels, compared with -0.8% in those who had FIIT and carb counting without an ABC and -0.1% in the control group, a study in Diabetes Care found. The relative change in HbA1C levels was -0.8% in the CarbCountABC group and -0.6% in the CarbCount-only group.
