Prototypes of DDR4 memory chips were demonstrated by Hynix Semiconductor and Samsung Electronics at the International Solid-State Circuits Conference, and the synchronous dynamic random-access memories are expected to be in production for server applications next year. The JEDEC roadmap for DDR4 calls for the parts to run as high as 3.2GHz. Standard DDR4 parts for PC applications are seen becoming available by the middle of 2014.
