Lawmakers in Indiana are considering legislation that would restore cursive instruction in schools, Jackie Zubrzycki writes in this blog post. Cursive handwriting instruction was dropped from requirements last year when it was not specified in the Common Core State Standards that lawmakers adopted. The cursive bill was approved by the state Senate and is awaiting a vote in the House. State officials say school districts currently can choose to teach cursive, but are not required to by law.
