Sen. Joe Lieberman, I-Conn., recently led a hearing on the proposed Cybersecurity Act of 2012, saying the bill would authorize the Department of Homeland Security to regulate the security measures for critical infrastructure, such as power generation and water treatment plants. The act addresses privacy concerns and is chiefly aimed at making sure cyber-attacks do not result in mass casualties, damage to the U.S. economy or destruction of infrastructure, according to Lieberman.
