National HIT Coordinator Dr. Farzad Mostashari said federal efforts to spur meaningful use of electronic health records among hospitals and providers have made "breathtaking" progress in a span of two years, more than what the industry had accomplished in 20 years. During his keynote speech at the HIMSS12 Conference, Mostashari expressed optimism that most providers would go paperless next year and that the number of meaningful use attesters would surpass 100,000 a year.
