New policies are needed to revive the country's ailing housing market, said Federal Reserve Chairman Ben Bernanke at a conference of the National Association of Homebuilders in Orlando, Fla. The weak housing market is holding back the country's economic recovery, as a high rate of foreclosures pulls down home prices, Bernanke said. He recommends turning foreclosed properties into rentals as renting activity gains traction.
