New Jersey may stop measuring the rate of student poverty through enrollment in free and reduced-priced meal programs. Under a plan to reform education funding, proposed by Gov. Chris Christie, the state would appoint a task force to determine whether there is another way to measure poverty. Schools that enroll students living in poverty typically receive more funding, and officials say Christie's plan has the potential to reconfigure the distribution of school funding statewide.
