Although cellulosic ethanol is taking longer than expected to reach the market, now is not the time for the government to waver in its support of the industry, writes Renewable Fuels Association President and CEO Bob Dinneen. Congress should extend the Producer Tax Credit for cellulosic ethanol and the Accelerated Depreciation Allowance for Cellulosic Biorefineries, which are vital for the sector's growth, Dinneen writes. Congress should also reject calls to weaken the Renewable Fuel Standard, which is "the lifeline keeping investments in cellulosic and advanced biofuels alive," he adds.
