The Interior Department's regulations for hydraulic fracturing on public lands will be formally released in "a few weeks," Interior Secretary Ken Salazar said. Under the rules, companies would be required to disclose fracking chemicals and explain their flowback-water-disposal strategies. "If we are going to be successful, the public needs to have confidence that fracking operations are being conducted safely, and that drinking water supplies are protected," he said.
