Royal Dutch Shell has developed a pilot-scale biofuel facility in Houston using technology licensed from Virent. The new facility will use a process similar to the one used in another pilot biorefinery jointly operated by Shell and Virent in Madison, Wis. "This allows us to explore further biofuels options as we continue to actively manage our advanced biofuels pathways to identify a feasible set of commercial solutions," said Luis Scoffone, Shell vice president of alternative energies.
