Jalapeno, chipotle and habanero are increasingly popular flavors with cheese processors, a survey shows. Kraft recently launched a cracked black pepper flavor string cheese and jalapeno cream cheese, while Schreiber Foods is now producing a jalapeno-spiked Weight Watchers string cheese. HP Hood's Helluva Good! cheeses now come in chipotle and habanero.
The American Heart Association has added three cuts of beef to its Heart-Check program, bringing the number of cuts that can be marketed with the symbol to six. "Using strong, science-based guidelines and criteria, the American Heart Association has now certified six different beef cuts, and we will continue to support and apply scientific evidence to show consumers how they can eat healthfully with extra-lean beef," said Jeanne Harland, chairwoman of the Checkoff Nutrition and Health Subcommittee.
