A study presented at the SCCM Critical Care Congress showed an eight-day course of antibiotics may not be long enough for patients with ventilator-associated pneumonia caused by nonlactose-fermenting Gram-negative bacilli. The data showed infection was present in 69% of patients infected with NLF-GNB who had the eight-day treatment course, compared with 8% of patients with other infections.
