Plasma 25-hydroxyvitamin D (25[OH]D) concentration was not linked to insulin sensitivity or beta-cell function among otherwise healthy black and white youths ages 8 to 18 years, a study in the journal Diabetes Care found. Although researchers noted a significantly higher insulin sensitivity and disposition index for blacks in the highest quartile of vitamin D, it disappeared following an adjustment of adiposity measures.
