Up to a third of restaurant patrons who were given a choice of food portions chose smaller ones, even though they were not less expensive, and on average they ate 200 fewer calories per meal, Harvard Business School researchers reported in the journal Health Affairs. Dietitian Samantha Heller said saving a couple of hundred calories each day could result in significant weight loss over time.
