Toyota's social Super Bowl campaign backfired after the company programmed multiple automated Twitter accounts to send promotional messages to anyone using Super Bowl-related hashtags. That led to a flood of unwanted messages, angering Twitter users and prompting Toyota to pull the plug on the campaign. "We've certainly learned from this experience and have suspended the accounts effective immediately," Toyota social media executive Kimberley Gardiner said in a statement.
