On Thursday, the House passed a 90-day extension of funding for surface transportation projects. It did not consider the two-year, $109 billion Senate bill. After the House vote, the Senate also voted for the extension to avert a shutdown of transportation projects. However, with no additional funding, the spending at current levels brings the Highway Trust Fund closer to insolvency. President Barack Obama signed the extension today.
